Hi, I like your blog. I lived in Brooklyn many years and went to Cooper Union for architecture in the city. Now I live in Ukraine with a Ukrainian wife and my son. If you look through Forgotten-NY you will discover that Subway entrances were originally enclosed (much like the recreated Astor Place entrance near Cooper Union. They were protected from rain and runoff going down the stairs.
